Selcuk Cakir

Selcuk (“Sel”) Cakir is a managing partner of PropCap, a real estate investment firm. Mr. Cakir has been an active real estate investor for over 15 years, serves as the Chairman of the Equity Investment Committee and approves all commitments by the firm. During his career, he has been involved in over $5 billion of principal investment transactions, including debt and equity.

Mr. Cakir started his career at McKinsey & Company in Switzerland, where he advised the top management of Fortune 500 in banking, insurance, airline and leisure sectors.

Previously, Mr. Cakir was a partner at MSD Capital’s Real Estate Group investing in control positions across all segments of real estate, particularly in hospitality, residential, student housing, data center, land, timber assets as well private debt. He also oversaw MSD’s Four Seasons and Fairmont portfolio and operating companies. Prior to joining MSD in 2004, he was a principal investor in special situations at an affiliate of Cerberus Capital Management.

Sel began his career in 1991 with McKinsey & Company in Switzerland, where he advised the top management of Fortune 100 companies in banking & insurance, airlines and leisure sectors. He received his undergraduate degree with high distinction at the Bosphorus University Istanbul and an M.B.A. degree from Harvard Business School. He serves on the investment committee on non-profit endowments and advises private family offices on investment strategy and organization.
